Sutter Brothers
Ross is the musician, Bart is the poet. They've both built reputations on their own (Bart was just named Poet Laureate of Duluth), but when they perform as a pair, their work has the kind of counterpoint and easy intimacy unique to sibling acts.
Barton Sutter was an essayist for the "Voices from the Heartland" series on Minnesota Public Radio from 1991-1997. He has also published numerous poems, stories, and essays. Ross Sutter has built his reputation with fresh interpretations of Irish, Scottish, Scandinavian and Northern European songs, and with his unique repertoire of children's music. Ross has toured Europe several times, most recently in the fall of 2006.
Recent performances include the Lake Superior Big Top Chautauqua, Gustavus Adolphus College, "Marshall Festival 5: Celebrating Writing in Minnesota" held at Southwest State University, and the 2006 National Poetry Forum in Pittsburgh. Website
