The Knife River Music Festival takes place July 18-20, 2008 in Knife River, MN.
Knife River is situated along the North Shore Scenic Byway (Scenic 61) 12 miles north of Duluth, MN and 8 miles south of Two Harbors, MN.
Knife River is a quiet and picturesque village with a public beach, restaurant, and excellent fishing. In addition, the community offers a full-service marina operated by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.
The community gets its name from the Knife River, which flows through the community. The community has a long and colorful history that extends back to the first days of logging and commercial fishing on the North Shore. The first recorded American total-loss shipwreck on Lake Superior occurred at the mouth of the Knife River in 1838. The village was also an important stop for both of the major railroads that used to serve the area.
