Thanks to everyone for their support in 2008 of great music, the festival and our new location! Announcing Our Fall Fundraiser: Family fun will be the order of the evening as the Knife River Music Festival hosts a fund-raising event; The Knife River Barn Dance. This event will be held to help raise funds to cover final expenses from the 2008 Knife River Music Festival and to generate crucial startup funds for the 2009 festival. Performing for the dance will be the Knife River Ceili Band, with special guest and dance-caller extraordinaire, Terrance Smith. The Knife River Rec Center is located near the Knife River Campground, home to the Knife River Music Festival.
The fun evening of dancing is open to area residents and folks from all over coming to enjoy the great fall color the North Shore has to offer. Come learn some steps and participate in a worthwhile fall fundraising event. Dance instruction is available for all and a special children’s instruction/dance will be held from 7:00 - 8:00 pm. For over 20 years Terrence Smith has arranged and called at monthly community dances and has traveled far and wide, calling and playing for hundreds of dances, festivals, and weddings, for all age ranges and all kinds of situations. Terrance has also done residencies in 175 schools, annually working with 14,000 students and 500 teachers. Terrence has a rare talent for getting folks of all ages involved in the joys of participating in traditional dance. He also manages the children's activities at the Knife River Music Festival and calls the festival dances. The Knife River Ceili Band will feature a collective of top individual performers that performed at the 2008 Knife River Music Festival. Mark Boggie, Chuck Butler, Mark Monroe, Erin O'Neil, Cameron Butler, Jim Ofsthun, Sue Spencer & Randy Ellestad will be the featured guest musicians. They will provide the traditional dance music for the Friday evening dance on October 3. A special area at the dance will be set up for additional donations for the Knife River Music Festival. Board members will be available to speak to individual and business owners about sponsorship opportunities. Hope to see you there! For additional information or questions, email us. |
